    Tumaro Media is composed of a talented and diverse group of experienced production professionals

    who form the nucleus of the company.

    Tumaro Media was formed to leverage the combined wealth of experiences of this group. All aspects of the industry are covered within Tumaro, such as direction, production, post production, business, and finance. We additionally have talent from film, music, and print. Having all this expertise under one roof provides built-in oversight and ensures success.

    Phil Maillard and Rodd Houston met as communications majors over thirty years ago at Hofstra University. Their friendship soon blossomed into their first business together as DJs on campus.
    In 1989 they founded Shoot Til U Drop, a music video production company with Rodd as EP and Phil as Director. During the following four years, the award-winning company scored

    many successes while helping to develop three future directors.

    With industry changes and new opportunities, they decided it was time

    to create something again, so in 2013 they founded Tumaro Media Inc.

    Phil 

    Maillard

    Award-winning director Phil Maillard has worked over 25 years in the Entertainment Industry. His versatile production skills include everything from directing music videos, commercials, multi-camera events, Tech producing Large Broadcast Multi-camera events. Phil directed Queen Latifah’s “Latifah’s Had it Up To Here” which won the Billboard Music Video Award for Best Female Performance Rap. He also garnered Gold Albums for directing two music videos for De La Soul ’s, “Three Feet High and Rising” as well as a Platinum CD for his Post Production work with Digital Underground. Phil directed “Short Life of a Gangsta” for the Lifer’s Group out of Rahway State Penitentiary. The critically acclaimed video was profiled in Billboard magazine. Phil also directed a “Test Drive” for the Jaguar XFR which was part of the launch for AAA’s website. Phil Maillard and Tumaro Media are currently in production on a documentary film about Calypso singer The Mighty Sparrow; ‘Calypso King, The Life and Times of The Mighty Sparrow”

    Rodd

    Houston

    Rodd Houston’s career path to becoming one of the most in-demand voice-over talents in the industry took him from his Philadelphia roots to the New York independent music scene, to the heights of the advertising and promotional world.
    He has worn many hats, acting as executive producer, line producer, director, on-air talent, narrator, and announcer for some of the biggest projects in commercials, promos, music videos, documentaries, feature film trailers, and live events.
    Rodd was the lead brand voice for Verizon Communications from 2006-2014. as well as the promo voice for the NBA on ESPN and ABC from 2005-2015. He has voiced promos, commercials, movie trailers, and narrations for all major media outlets for over twenty years.
    Prior to his work as a top voice talent, Rodd worked for twelve years at Tommy Boy Music, nine of those years as Director of Media Production. There, he worked on all media related projects for the labels’ roster of artists including Queen Latifah. Music videos produced under his supervision went on to win three MTV Video Music Awards and four Billboard Music Video Awards.

    Marcus

    Turner

    Marcus Turner received an MFA from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and a B.A., cum laude, from The University of Cincinnati. He is a member of The Directors Guild of America and Local 52 of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees. His directorial effort ET TU BRUTUS for HBO's Peace: Live In It or Rest In It, a nationwide campaign against gun violence, won a CLIO Award and was nominated for an EMMY. He

    Executive Produced the Rev. Al Sharpton public affairs television program titled, “Sharptalk”, that aired on TV One. Marcus produced several hour-long documentaries for TV One Turner also won Best Music Video Director at the Kora All Africa Music Awards for his work with the French-African Supergroup -Bisso Na Bisso. Currently, Marcus Turner is completing a documentary on the future of public education in America and compiling an audio-visual archive of Jazz musicians making new music.

    Andy

    Tolbert
    Former heavy metal drummer and renaissance man turned editor utilizes his rhythm and timing chops to aid him in the editing of compelling stories. Like all of Tumaro Media's partners Andy loves collaboration and telling stories. Andy's passion, experience, and multidisciplinary approach makes him a much sought-after talent in news and documentary television. From promos', music videos', short form and long form documentaries he has the experience and skills to do it all.

    If there is a message to be delivered, David Belgrave is your man. David is the kind of executive whose connection to music, pop culture and the urban esthetic make him the perfect creative translator for Tumaro. His marketing fluency has generated unprecedented results during his career. That’s a big part of his role within Tumaro Media. With an ear for great concepts, an eye for product and project development, and the mind for laserlike execution, David is the messenger clients can trust, and partners can rely on.
